The South Carolina Bar held its 2021 Annual Convention virtually from January 21, 2021 through January 24, 2021.  One of the highlights was the Torts and Insurance Practices Section’s course on Advanced Deposition Tactics. Sach Oliver started the afternoon lineup with “Depositions Are Trial” by discussing a philosophy and new way of thinking that can lead to unprecedented results for clients by being in trial at the depositions. Next, Mark Kosieradzki, the nation’s leading author on 30(b)(6) depositions, taught how to use Rule 30(b)(6) depositions to win the case and how to avoid being unprepared to handle them. Finally, Stephen Saltzburg, George Washington University Professor of Law and Director of the National Trial Advocacy College at the University of Virginia, discussed how to make depositions effective by examining adverse parties, 30(b)(6) witnesses, experts, and others.
